Scientific name: Machaerium scleroxylon

Family: Leg. Papilionoideacea

International trade name: CAVIUNA

Other names: Pau Ferro and Jacaranda violet (Brazil)

Considered as a very valuable species.

The heartwood is yellowish brown to reddish violet, sometimes almost black, with a lot of variation. The purple is darkened by oxidation to violet brown.
